Discontinued Macallan 1861 Replica. Released in 2001 this was the second release in Macallan’s famous “Replica” series. Nose: Potpourri. Spice cupboard. Flapjack. Syrup. Rosewater. Custard. Palate: Slippery-smooth. Very sweet. Perfumy. Anis. Restrained fruitiness. Candied orange peel. Delicious sherry character. Great depth of flavour. Finish: Toasty dryness. Long, soothing. Comment: Quite an achievement. Like the previous 'replica' edition, this is more delicate than the robustly sherried Macallans of today.
