Santa Teresa 1796 Solera Rum

When I crave a sipping rum that is drier than most and not sugary-sweet on the palate, I reach for this. Don't get me wrong here, though: rich aromas of molasses, caramel, vanilla bean, coffee, allspice, apple, cherries, and banana invite you back again and again. Santa Teresa utilizes a solera method of aging with a mother rum of at least 25 years to blend together vibrant and mature rums. The result is a consistent sipping rum with all the the right stuff: complexity, flexibility (in terms of pairing options, e.g., cigars, chocolate...), and the cost to the consumer. I enjoy rum from many places, but this is a solid pick I will always have in my bar.
