Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection Twice Barreled

This bourbon was made from BT Rye Mash #2, distilled and barreled in April 1993. After eight years and eight months in new, charred American oak, the whiskey was moved to brand new American oak cask; both casks were brought to a #4 char. Only one barrel was produced. After aging for a total of twelve years (and 19.25% evaporation), the barrel was emptied in February 2006 and bottled at 45% ABV. Very spicy with an oak sappiness. Loads of maple syrup and corn sweetness up front, with the spice and some subtle lush fruit kicking in midpalate. Leather and tobacco follow through to a very masculine, dry oak finish.
