The double magnum of Mouton 1983 was served just before the main course of Herdwick lamb at La Trompette in Chiswick. The Mouton was in a very good place, nicely resolved but still quite vibrant and youthful in this format. It was suave and complex but I did detect a touch of green on the palate but it was by no means unpleasant. With the Herdwick lamb it was a match made in heaven. The lamb married with the wine and transformed it, so together they produced an out-of-this-world experience.
