Hawk Crest 2006 Merlot California

This Merlot displays great dimension in the nose with aromas of blueberry, ripe plum and black cherry accented by hints of violet, anise, pepper and dark chocolate. On the palate, upfront flavors of black cherry, plum and dark berries mix with medium soft tannins, sweet vanilla and well-integrated oak. A rich, silky texture and long, lingering finish are the final rewards. Slow braised beef short ribs with glazed garden fresh carrots will make an excellent pairing.
